Got Inspire on July 8, 2018
Hi! My name is Karen and I live in Gilroy, California. I received my implant in July of 2018. Before Inspire, I was diagnosed with a mild cognitive impairment and I had to take a pill every day to stay awake. I had nasal turbinate reduction and used CPAP and BiPAP for two years but was not getting symptom relief. After Inspire, my sleep apnea is being treated successfully and I have a new appreciation for life. I don’t fall asleep unintentionally during the day and I’m back to working full time and living life to the fullest!
Interests: I’m interested in plant based nutrition and enjoy Zentangle which is a meditative art. In the spring of 2020, I became a certified Zentangle teacher. I would have never been able to do this before Inspire.
Why I chose Inspire therapy to treat my sleep apnea: I was not getting better using CPAP or BiPAP. My mild cognitive impairment was making it difficult to function both at work and in my personal life.
In a few short words, I would describe Inspire therapy as: With Inspire I’m living my life instead of just surviving.
Why am I a Patient Ambassador? I have experienced such symptom relief with my Inspire implant that I feel compelled to share my experience with others. I hope that by sharing my story I can give others with sleep apnea hope.
